IKW, the German Cosmetic, Toiletry, Perfumery and Detergent Association (Industrieverband Koerperpflege- und Waschmittel)

is the industry and trade association of manufacturers and distributors of cosmetic, toiletry, perfumery, detergents and household cleaning and maintenance products. Located in Frankfurt/Main, the main business hub of Germany and the headquarter of the European Central Bank (ECB), IKW is supporting the participation of its industry in important international fairs and exhibitions, i.e. Beautyworld Middle East (Dubai),  BeautyEurasia (Istanbul), InterCharm (Moscow), Cosmoprof Asia (Hong Kong), China Beauty Expo (Shanghai) and Cosmoprof Bologna. IKW is chairing the GERMAN PAVILIONS of its industry sponsored by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.

In 2015 the industry represented by IKW did cover a national sales volume of EUR 17.9 billion at retail sales prices. Covering in 2015 a national sales volume of EUR 13.4 billion for cosmetic, toiletry and perfumery products, Germany is the biggest national market in Europe followed by the United Kingdom, France, Italy and Spain. The 420 member companies of IKW, representing with its subsidiaries more than 500 companies, account for more than 95 percent of its industry in Germany.

All well-known big global players of the beauty and body care industry operating in Germany are members of IKW. The majority of the members are small and medium-size manufacturers and distributors offering attractive products "made in Germany". IKW voices opinion on all national and global economic, legal, technical and scientific issues which are of mutual concern to its members. Not surprising for a German National Association, IKW is committed to particularly demanding standards of product quality and safety. Within this mission its own teams of experts from various task forces examine fundamental health issues and perform thorough environmental assessments of products and their ingredients.

IKW offers financial support to research and development efforts which contribute toward increasing and expanding the basic knowledge of scientific correlation and principles
